Of course you can wear your barefoot shoes with socks.
Barefoot shoes and socks – a recurring topic that causes misunderstandings and questions. So let's get this out of the way first: Of course you can wear your Groundies® with socks.
As we understand it, barefoot shoes differ from traditional shoes in that they have a wide fit, especially in the toe box area. They also feature a thin, completely flat, and extremely flexible sole. In addition, they have lightweight and flexible upper materials.
The goal: you hardly feel the shoe on your foot and enjoy complete freedom of movement with every step. The shoes give you a running experience that is as close to running barefoot as possible while wearing shoes.
Whether you wear your barefoot shoes with socks or barefoot doesn't really affect your freedom of movement and is therefore a matter of personal preference. Provided, of course, that your socks aren't too tight or too small.
For hygiene reasons, we tend to recommend wearing them with socks, as these absorb foot perspiration and are easier to clean than the shoes themselves. This will protect the insoles and lining in the long term and ensure that your Groundies remain in perfect condition for longer.
GROUNDIES® Premium Socks
We particularly recommend our Groundies® premium socks: in classic black, they are extremely comfortable to wear thanks to their high-quality blend of organic cotton and bamboo. The elastane content guarantees flexibility and a perfect fit.
Groundies® premium socks are certified according to Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 and, just like our barefoot shoes, are sustainably manufactured in Portugal. We offer three different styles: depending on your preferences and intended use, you can choose between mid-calf socks, short socks, and ankle socks, which are perfect for sneakers.
